This was one for the books.

Hosting my very own painting workshop with vibes that perfectly matched me was something I never expected to do in Barcelona. I had assumed that once I became an artist, my degree in Spanish would fade into irrelevance. How wrong I was!

Through a serendipitous meeting, I connected with Imani from DAR Events who visited my London studio during a brief trip. We instantly clicked and began planning what would become the perfect introduction to workshops for me.

Abarka, an African restaurant in the heart of Barcelona serving dishes reminiscent of my Nigerian childhood, provided the ideal setting. Once the DJ arrived and guests gathered, the creative energy flowed. Everyone eagerly followed my guidance while expressing themselves uniquely, using my motif as inspiration. Witnessing so many personal interpretations of Paten was truly magical—a beautiful fusion of my artistic vision with others' creativity. This experience has only fueled my enthusiasm for hosting more workshops in the future, blending my artistic practice with my love for cultural connection and community building.
